My Plans for Fly Fish Nevada

Since this site is as much for me as it is for you, I have decided to post about my future plans for this blog and my plans in general regarding Fly Fish Nevada.  I currently am employed with the State of Nevada, however, I will be retiring this July, Independence Day to be exact.  I will not be sitting in a lawn chair on my drive way sipping beer, smoking cigars and complaining about the government (well, not all the time anyway.)  I will be actually be semi-retired, working part-time, but I will also be spending more time blogging and developing Fly Fish Nevada, as well as fishing the local waters.

You will see more posts about places I fish come this summer.  I plan to document every trip with photos and write about my experience for you, my faithful readers.  This serves two purposes.  First, a nice entertaining read.  I love reading about other’s fishing experiences and dreaming about going where they go and I assume you do to.  Second, it will provide a nice record of my fishing success (or lack thereof) for posterity’s sake.  Something you and I can reference in the weeks, months and years to come.

I am also working on a series of informational posts, both for the beginning and veteran fly fisher.  Some will target Eastern Sierra or Nevada waters like my East Walker River page.  Others will target fly fishing tackle and gear, like my Pyramid Ladder post.  Still, others will address tips and techniques designed to improve your fishing and teach new skills.  All that for free!!  Darn, I’m a wonderful dude!  Just ask me.

Beyond that, I will be engaging in a few fly fishing related endeavors not necessarily related to the site.  First, I am writing a fly fishing guide book.  I may reveal details as I get closer to completion, but for now that’s all you get.  It will be available for sale here and and on other book sites (Amazon, etc.), and if I can swing it, at some local fly shops.  Stay tuned.

I am also going to begin building custom fly rods for sale.  I probably won’t be taking orders until the fall or winter, but if you get in early, you could get a killer deal on a custom rod.  Before I begin offering rods to the general public, I will build a few to develop a style that is unique and test different materials.  Some of those test rods will go to charities, but others will be for sale at near cost.  I will post more details as things get closer.

Well, there you go.  A little insight into the future of Fly Fish Nevada.  Until summer expect the rest of the Otter updates to get posted, a few trip reports, and one or two flashback articles.  I hope that the stuff I post on Fly Fish Nevada is both entertaining and informative.  If you want to see something on here, let me know.  If you have questions about fishing the local area feel free to contact me.  Thanks for reading!!
